Ιn 2008 Liakos and Associate Architects was appointed to renovate the abandoned Aqua Blu Hotel, in Kos. This was the first remodeling of the property since 1980. Initially, the was stripped out, revealing its organism and its pathogens. The extensive deterioration that was discovered, required extensive recovery operations.
The ground floor of the hotel accommodates the reception, the restaurant and bar, providing easy access to these areas both by hotel guests and visitors. The challenge in this project was to design a new cozy boutique hotel which will offer executive services to holiday makers and business oriented guests.
The treatment of the uniform facades is straightforward: they are fully glazed yet discreetly concealed by wooden shutter-blinds. The design team embarked on a transformation to add sparkle, elegance and contemporary luxury in order to create a new and exciting interior image, utilizing modern furniture and decor. An aquatic blue atmospheric effect was created by pools and water elements that surround the building, enhanced by special lighting offers a vibrant atmosphere during night time.
