Cavo Tagoo Santorini is a luxury hotel, which combines traditional Cycladic architecture with modern elegance, while maintaining the original philosophy of Cavo Tagoo.
The basic architectural concept is based on the cultural and geographical heritage of the island, the harmonious extension of elements of the building, as a continuation of the natural landscape of Santorini, with structures and fragmentary references throughout the area, which look as if they too emerged from the lava.
The materials chosen were used in such a way as to emphasize the volcanic presence in all the spaces through the black natural stone, the burnt woods and the copper that alludes to the shades of the hot lava that still flows.
The simple – minimal design and attention to detail greet the visitor in the lobby of Cavo Tagoo Hotel, which is reminiscent of a cave. The tranquillity conveyed by the traditional white cement plaster on the walls and floor is contrasted and punctuated by black sculpted furniture and decorative elements on walls and special lighting pieces.
The hotel’s rooms offer a beautiful atmosphere and comfort, with the dark floor of burnt wood adding an enigmatic touch to the guest’s experience.
The white beamed ceiling and white cement plaster walls are in keeping with the Cycladic aesthetic, while the black exterior pergolas and almost melted black fixtures and furniture are clear references to the hotel’s natural volcanic environment. The bathrooms combine copper sinks, faucets and other details with black rough stone, giving the space a dark, yet fresh ambiguity.
The bar and the pool area are the architectural culmination of the project, with the entire space metaphorically reflecting the view of the caldera.
Black rough stone frames the space, transforming the restaurant into a rocky landscape.
The impressive pool seems to end at the horizon of the Aegean Sea and the seating areas of the pool are formed with large rough pieces of logs reminiscent of rocks in a calm lake.
