In 2005 Liakos and Associate Architects was appointed to expand and refurbish the aging Elina Hotel, in Ixia of Rhodes. This was the first major remodeling of the property since 1960. Key to the redevelopment was retaining the essential architectural elements of the building, while meeting the high standards of a luxury hotel resort. The redesign of the hotel involved extensive refurbishment of the existing public areas, including restaurant and bar and the addition of conference facilities, spa and 20 bungalows.
Water is the dominant element, around which the new bungalows are organized. All suites and maisonettes have their own private part of pool, wooden deck and sun beds in front of each suite. All the rooms are decorated with modern design, cozy concept and stylish ambient. The 16 bedfront suites located directly on the waterfront offer direct access to the sea. The hotel reopened in 2006 under the name “The Ixian Grand Hotel”
